Biography

Jister is a recording artist and producer who started out in early 2011 and in this time he has wrote, recorded and released over 100 songs online and currently holds the north east hip hop chart position of 2nd on Reverbnation.  Jister has released a number of EPs and mixtapes on iTunes and Bandcamp, all of which can be found on the website he created from the ground up at www.jistermusic.co.uk.  The funky, somewhat different, raw hip hop sound Jister established in 2011 resulted in an offer for a record contract from a record label based in Manchester but Jister turned this down and decided to remain an independent artist for the time being.

In 2011 Jister recorded numerous tracks and mixtapes, incorporating a variety of genres from electric blues to funk and merging them with hip hop.  This creativity and versatility directly led to a performance at Crastonbury Festival in 2011, a festival where Jister was the only hip hop act on the bill.  As well as this, 2011 saw Jister perform at a hip hop event in Middlesbrough which he and local DJ and BigScene.tv presenter Tommy Dunn organised, which had live performances from the likes of Leddie and Smoggy, Jister himself, and included battles and freestyles from Don't Flop battlers Rhymeotaur and Lego, the event was a huge success with a large number of fans in attendance.

In 2012, Jister performed at The Middlesbrough Empire on a number of occasions, and this was the year he had the biggest opportunity of his career when he got invited to play Evolution Festival in Newcastle, among some of the most successful and well known musicians in the country and the world.  The event went ahead and was a huge success with a huge turnout.  Within this year Jister also formed the duo Twisted Dialect with a local MC by the name of Blitz, after a public vote (gaining 382 votes), the pair were set to support Wiley on the Middlesbrough leg of his tour, unfortunately he cancelled and the pair are awaiting a rescheduling of the gig.

Later in the year Jister went on to release his debut music video entitled Introducing an Introduction, this track garnered incredible praise and reception from a global hip hop audience and increased his profile as an artist.

Jister is also one of the founders of The AntiSwagAssembly. The key figures of the group are Jister, Yoshi Riot, a Manchester based hip hop artist, and local duo Leddie and Smoggy, who both originate from Middlesbrough.  The group has many members and supporters, all of which are opposed to the manufactured, dull and lifeless, soulless examples of hip hop that have become popular among the masses within society today.  As well as this, Jister also has a weekly radio slot playing the best of hip hop called Twisted Dialect Radio, he also designed an Anti Swag T-Shirt range and successfully distributed these to fans and supporters of the movement well in to 2012 and continues to do so within 2013.
